Ranching Roots
Tom Richards was born into a ranching family, growing up with agriculture and livestock at the center of his childhood.
A Career in Technology
Tom chose a different path, building a career in technology and spending much of his career at Salesforce. His ranching roots, however, remained close to his heart.
Richards Regenerative
Tom returned to agriculture and founded Richards Regenerative. After years of raising grass-fed cattle for friends and family, the family saw an opportunity to bring their beef to a growing consumer market for grass-fed products.
The Idea Takes Shape
As the beef operation grew, Tom began asking how technology could help track an animal throughout its entire lifecycle—from lineage and age to harvest, processing, fabrication, and fulfillment. The concept for HarvestPath was born.
Back to Agriculture
After years in technology, Tom left Salesforce to focus full-time on agriculture and innovation. Meanwhile, Richards Regenerative continued evolving, embracing regenerative ranching and becoming the real-world testing ground for HarvestPath.
Built for the Entire Operation
HarvestPath grew beyond livestock tracking. The platform became a way to manage budgets, costs, customers, partners, operations, and products—all in one connected system, from calf to cut.
Listening to the Industry
Years of conferences and conversations with ranchers and industry leaders revealed a common challenge: too many spreadsheets, disconnected apps, and systems that don't talk to each other. The need for one connected source of truth was clear.
Built & Tested on the Ranch
HarvestPath was put to the test across Richards Regenerative and the entire operation. What began as a solution for our own ranch proved there was a much bigger opportunity to help the industry.

With the support of an experienced leadership team and investors who believe in the mission, HarvestPath is now helping producers, processors, and distributors connect their operations with better data, greater traceability, and smarter technology.
